Introduction

Summary

A longitudinal sinusoidal wave which you can modify the frequency and the wavelength.
Particle displacement is parallel to the direction of wave propagation. The red particle indicates that all particles simply oscillate back and forth along their individual equilibrium positions.

Goals

  • To distinguish longitudinal from transverse waves.
  • To modify the principal characteristics of a wave.
  • To show that the particles simply oscillate about their individual equilibrium positions.

Features

Click and drag the to modify the frequency and the wavelength.

Click on 'Amplitude' and drag the A cursor to set a new amplitude.
