Life Cycle of a Trout

The trout is a fish that is part of the salmonidae family.

In the fall, the trout swim upriver to spawn in waters that are deep, fresh and well oxygenated. The female lays a few hundred thousand eggs depending on her weight. A year later, only a few trout grow to the adult stage. These travel toward the lakes. The anadrome species like the salmon travel to the ocean. Only a few that of them will reach maturity, allowing them to reproduce (about 6 for 1,000 laid eggs).

The life cycle of the trout retraces the stages of its development, each characterized by and individual with a distinct behaviour.
